Frequently asked questions
I don't live in Hua Hin — can you still help?
Yes, at the same price anywhere in Thailand. Send us a photo of your passport for a free check, then we send you the power of attorney and documents to sign and post back. It's ideal if you live far from the Bangkok and Chiang Mai centres — in the south, the northeast or the east.
Do I need to go to the application centre myself?
No. You can give us power of attorney to submit and collect on your behalf. In Hua Hin we visit you once at home to sign; elsewhere, you sign and post the documents to us.
How do I get a passport photo outside Hua Hin?
Visit a photo shop near you, ask for a passport photo as a digital file, and send it to us on WhatsApp, LINE or email. We check it meets HMPO standards before we submit.
Can I stay in Thailand while my passport is renewed?
Yes. Your Thai visa or extension remains valid as normal, but we recommend not planning international travel until your new passport arrives.
What happens to my Thai visa stamp in the old passport?
Your permission to stay remains valid. Once the new passport arrives, the visa or extension must be transferred to it at immigration. For Hua Hin clients we do this at Hua Hin Immigration for free; elsewhere, take your new passport to your local immigration office. See our other residency services, such as 90-day reporting.
Can my child hold Thai and British passports?
Many Thai–British children hold both nationalities. Usually they use the Thai passport to enter and leave Thailand and the British passport for the UK. We'll explain what applies to your family.
Who can be a countersignatory?
A first passport application needs a countersignatory who has known the family for at least 2 years and works in an occupation on the UK government's list. We explain the rules and help you find someone suitable.
The parents are not married — is that a problem?
